Is this possible to do re-encrypt between OpenShift route and Istio ingress gateway

Is this possible to configure an OpenShift route to terminate the inbound traffic and re-encrypt request to Istio ingress-gateway? From all I read, it is only possible to configure OpenShift route for path-though.
