Features: Message and Protocol Transformations

Hi,

I believe there is a need to add new features to include Message Transformation and Protocol Transformation in Istio.

Would this be possible to add them soon?

This is definitely something we’re looking into but there’s nothing concrete to point to yet. If you’re feeling adventurous you can always create an Envoy extension and use that custom build with Istio + the EnvoyFilter API to control it

Thank you, if possible, please share more details, samples would be marvelous.

These features are required frequently by large enterprises due to their complex architectures with hybrid legacy/modern systems.
