Did Ambient Mesh make it into 1.8?

This blog post says Ambient Mesh was merged into the main branch for release in Istio 1.8: Istio / Istio Ambient Service Mesh Merged to Istio’s Main Branch

But I searched the 1.8 change notes (Istio / Istio 1.18.0 Change Notes). The words “Ambient Mesh” or even just “Ambient” are not in there.

Which leaves me wondering, did it actually get released? (Maybe the code is in there, but turned off via a feature flag?)

Is Ambient Mesh released?
