CRD apiversion: will networking.istio.io/v1alpha3 be deprecated?

now that istio 1.16 officially supports networking.istio.io/v1beta1 for api server . what does it say about good old networking.istio.io/v1alpha3 ?
will that be supported forever and new features or fields will be added to beta1 only ?
