Several requests have been made for Istio to provide some integration/support for the Prometheus Operator.
To that end, we’ve added an initial stab at support for generating the appropriate ServiceMonitor CRs to the new istio installer (operator config PR).
We are looking for some community members to play around with the config provided (and the general install experience) and provide feedback on the experience.
The minimum requirement is to separately install the Prometheus Operator itself, as Istio does not want to own full Operator install at this time.
